Hina W. Chaudhry, MD is a Professor of Medicine and Cardiology and Director of Cardiovascular Regenerative Medicine at the Icahn School of Medicine at Mount Sinai. She obtained Bachelor’s degrees in Chemistry and Biology at MIT, and completed her MD with Honors through the Health Sciences and Technology program at Harvard Medical School
Hina W. Chaudhry, MD is a Professor of Medicine and Cardiology and Director of Cardiovascular Regenerative Medicine at the Icahn School of Medicine at Mount Sinai. She obtained Bachelor’s degrees in Chemistry and Biology at MIT, and completed her MD with Honors through the Health Sciences and Technology program at Harvard Medical School. She completed her training in Internal Medicine and Cardiovascular Medicine at Duke and University of Pennsylvania, respectively. Dr. Chaudhry trained in Genetics and Developmental Biology at Columbia University, where she also became Florence Irving Assistant Professor of Medicine. She has pioneered the study of cell cycle biology in cardiac development and its application to the treatment of heart disease. Her laboratory was the first in the world to regenerate the porcine heart after myocardial infarction, with a 55% increase in cardiomyocyte numbers, using cyclin A2 gene therapy, the most extensive regeneration seen to date in large animals. Her lab has also utilized the phenomenon of fetal-maternal crosstalk to discover the stem properties of placental CDX2 cells which they have shown to be poised for cardiogenesis. Outside of the lab, she enjoys travel, pilates, and downhill skiing, and is multilingual, having studied 5 languages in her youth. Dr. Vaddake-Madathil is studying the interaction of trophoblast cells including CDX2 cells and endothelial cells to understand how the altered cellular function contributes to the progression of hypertensive pregnancy disorder preeclampsia. She is also investigating human placental CDX2 cells as a multipotent cell source for cardiac regeneration. Outside of the lab, she enjoys baking with her fabulous 9-year-old daughter and taking hikes. Our team is comprised of experienced scientists, engineers and developers who are passionate about technology and innovation.
Esmaa is soon to be joining our lab as a newly graduated Ph.D. from the University of Ferrara in Italy. She immediately proved herself to be a fantastic researcher. In her spare time she enjoys running.
Carolyn Quinn, Project Coordinator, has had many years’ worth of administrative experience, 10 of them at Mount Sinai. In her spare time she enjoys 1920s music and is also the Author of eight books written in three different genres.
